Try as I might, I couldn't quite get the lion dancer twins to work (though I'mma gonna keep working at 'em), so I did the zany professor (with something more like a dragon head than a lion's) chillin' on some books.

I am sorry the hero team didn't work out, that happens sometimes. I think it is good that you had an alternate because he is a really fun character.
I like the bit of environment that you added, and his personality is a lot of fun. Because of the mask-like nature of his face, it would have been nice to see more poses that show a change in his body language, since that will probably be the most effective way for us to know what his emotions are.
I think the colors are not dynamic enough right now, especially his jacket. Try putting a complementary reddish/brown into the shadow areas (Especially close to the head, which would reflect that orangey color onto the jacket), and some subtle blue tones into the black pants... maybe there is a reflection bouncing up from a blue tiled floor, or bounced light from the books etc.
Love the details, love the personality. I definitely think there is a lot of potential here for a really interesting world and set of characters. Good work!
