The character from class! Bug catcher guy... And last, the character from Pio's concepts! The hairy bogey man thing....telling children stories or something of the sorts.
I think the painting is really fun and wonderful although I wish the background was more than just white, perhaps a cloudy light grey to sort of pop some of him out of the white space, especially the net gets lost and feels less substantial than the rest of the piece. His right hand holding the net also seems like it had a lot less attention to it than the rest of him, especially since his left hand clutching his sweater is so intensely rendered. The use of color and light are wonderful and make the piece even more energetic, especially the fuchsia in the shadows. Overall I’d say it’s a very successful piece, I think you just worked so much on some parts that the places that you didn’t pay THAT degree of attention to stand out.
I love how the muscles fold around the leg on the bottom image. The physics of the hair and muscles remain stylized without making the mask not look like a mask in contrast. The area of the image around the energy ball in the creature's hand gets confusing. I think it is because the smoke looks like it's continuing where the hand is. (I hope that made sense)
Great job on the bug-catcher. I love the way he is painted, and the great use of a complimentary color scheme.
His personality really shines through, and hints at a hilrious story.
I think your image does need some grounding, even if just a shadow on the floor to let us know he isn't floating in a void, or maybe a bit of grass and some flowers that the butterfly is circling.
I also am losing the hand that is holding the net, in fact it is a little difficult to tell what is the arm and what is the handle of the net.
The net could be longer and more dynamic as well, like that scarf he has around him.
Love the personality sketches too, very expressive. Great job!
