Homework 12/08/2009

Hey guys! For next week, just bring the following:
  • Finished drawings of both illustrations, in black and white, preferably in pencil/graphite. The composition should be worked out in both pieces.
  • Sean mentioned that you can start in color, but if you might be asked to change things around. If you want to post WIPs/finished comps on the blog, I can offer some critique, but Sean needs to give it a go before you can finish the pieces with color.
  • Remember, you can bring WIPs on the computer (stuff for next week), but everything needs to be printed out for the final critique (in two weeks).
Here are the websites Sean went over last night:
A lot of these links have challenges (some with fiscal incentives), a community in which to gather feedback on posted work, the opportunity to see what others are making, and tutorials.

Here's a couple of other links that might be useful:
  • Colour Lovers: Kat suggested this in class for a way to search for palettes, but I don't know if everyone heard her.
  • Pose Maniacs: This site has 3D models of humanoid figures posed in everyday and odd ways, from standard and bizarre angles. Obviously, a live model is better, and photos you've taken are a good backup plan, but this is good for a little practice if you can't get a naked person constantly enough.
If anyone else has suggestions for helpful links related to general techniques, or specifically for character design, post them in the comments and I can add it to this post. Also, if you have questions, or if some of the wording isn't clear, comment on that too.

Whoa, this is kind of long. Okay, you guys know what to do, go!
